Individual Therapy

I work one-on-one with clients with a wide array of presenting problems, from relationship distress to anxiety and depression to simply wanting to feel happier. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am trained to help clients understand who they are in the context of their relationships, and to help them work to improve these relationships as they improve their own lives. I also have specialized training in trauma-informed care, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and sex therapy. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and have extensive experience and knowledge around working with LGBTQIA+ clients.

I have particular knowledge around working  with clients who are dealing with changes in their religious beliefs and/or how their beliefs have impacted them in relationships. My dissertation focused on LGBTQ+ women who had left the Christian denominations in which they were raised, and how that affected their family relationships. Leaving your religion- or even just questioning your beliefs- can be distressing and cause disruptions in relationships. On top of that, being raised with certain messages around what you should or should not do (especially when it comes to love and sex!) can make it difficult to adapt to life changes later on, even if those changes are acceptable within your religious framework. I help clients to manage these types of distress and heal as they find the right path for themselves.
